So Much School Work

Girls talk about how schoolwork impacts them

May 1, 2003

By DANIELLE GARCIA

Do you feel like school cuts into your fun time?

If you do, don't feel left out! Your not the only one that feels bad about school!

We interviewed some girls at Prairie Trail Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas, and they seemed to agree that school presents a bunch of work for a child.

Ivana, 10, said sometimes she has too much schoolwork. "It seems to be like that only when we don't have a lot of time," she said.

Jessica, also 10, agrees; "they give you so little time," she answered to the first survey question, Do you think that they give you to much work at school?

In response to the second question, both Ivana and Jessica agreed that teachers are trying to help the students, not overwhelm them.

The third question asked, Do you feel unorganized or too busy to play?

While both girls agreed that there is pressure from the amount of school work they have, Jessica said so much work makes her feel unorganized.

While Ivana doesn't use a daily planner, Jessica does because it helps her be more organized.

When asked, What types of things do you think could help you with homework, teachers, and popularity? Ivana answered, "Being smart, nice, and respectful." Jessica, on the other hand, said, "being organized, patient, and (in) fashion."
