$1,000 Makeover Prize Will Go to Essay Winner

Pacific Sunwear Partners with Roxy in Interactive Roxy Room Takeover ContestNovember 17, 2003

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov 17, 2003) -- Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. has partnered with Roxy in a promotion that highlights a growing accessories category for one of the biggest girl brands in the country. The Roxy Room Takeover contest offers one lucky online visitor and her best friend the chance to win Roxy room makeovers.

The online promotion begins today and consumers are encouraged to enter the contest at www.pacsun.com. Entries will be accepted up until midnight, Dec. 14, 2003.

In 350 words or less, entrants will have to submit their answer to the question, "Why should you win a Roxy room makeover with your best friend?" Entries will be judged by representatives from PacSun and Roxy and the top three finalists chosen will be posted on the PacSun Web site for two weeks. PacSun's online audience will then have the opportunity to vote for the winner from the three finalists via an online poll.

The Grand Prize is a two-day experience where both friends makeover each other's rooms. A PacSun and Roxy representative will go to the winners' homes to help with the makeovers, incorporating $1,000 worth of Roxy room merchandise in each room. The makeovers will be videotaped for posting on the PacSun and Roxy Web sites.

PacSun and PacSun.com are currently featuring a wide selection of new Roxy room accessories such as pillows, rugs and luau lanterns as well as related accessories like slippers and jewelry boxes. Concurrent with the contest, PacSun.com will be featuring a Roxy gift with purchase promotion. Customers will receive a free Roxy gift with the online purchase of select Roxy merchandise.

"The girls market has been a key initiative for PacSun, and Roxy has been a key brand in driving this growth," said Tim Harmon, President and Chief Merchandising Officer for PacSun, "This contest offers a lot of fun and interactivity for our girl customers while at the same time highlighting our Roxy offering," said Harmon.

In addition to the contest exposure on the PacSun Web site, the Roxy Room Takeover Contest will be promoted on www.roxy.com. "We're so excited about this creative promotion that will offer our winners such a fun way to participate with their friends while expressing their unique style and talents," said Kenna Bertell, Quiksilver Online Marketing Director.
