Recently we caught up with Meg Astro, the Most Valuable Player at a recent championship basketball game that helped transform a local team.
Meg, 11, goes to grade school.
On a Saturday two months ago, Meg's team -- the Hoops -- had one of the best days in its history. You see, at the beginning of the season they had been losing every game. Then Meg -- now their star player -- joined and everything changed.
They won every game by quite a few points: 42-6, 80-20, 78-42, 98-38.
"Well, I think it's a miracle," said Meg's coach, Coach Green. "We went from losing every game to winning every game."
Meg, who has been playing since she was 6, practices 2 hours every day. She said she makes half the points each game.
When asked about how she likes being on the team, Meg replied, "this is the best team in the world. The girls are like my sisters. We always encourage each other and help each other."
Coach Green added, "since we won the championship, we have been playing middle school boys basketball teams and actually winning."
Meg says being on the Hoops is one of the best things in her life.
